Running Out of Time

Since the last time I posted, I have been keeping very busy.  In fact, I have been struggling to find the time to accomplish everything on my “to do” list and I feel like 24 hours is not enough time in one day.  However, I have managed to find the time to utilize the Tread Mill 4 out of the last 7 days.
My husband shared with me a running schedule that helped him when he first started running.  Yesterday, I pushed my self and felt wonderful after.  In fact, I could hardly wait to attempt the schedule again today.  However, I woke up very stiff and slow moving.  All I could do was walk on the tread mill today.  Maybe tomorrow I will be more successful at following this schedule.
Warm up- 5 minutes of walking –build to a jog
Run for 30 seconds/ Walk for 60 seconds (4 times)
Run for 60 seconds/Walk for 60 seconds (3 times)
Run for 30 seconds/ Walk for 60 seconds (2 times)
Cool down- 5 minutes of walking
Thanks for all the support and kind words.

  1. Thanks for sharing with us Carlton's running schedule. I asked him to get it for me last week but I'm sure he has been very busy. I need to invest in a treadmill, but for some reason, I think it would become a dust collector, clothes hanger or decoration in my home. I would love to have the enthusiasim that you all do. I wish you the best of luck.

  2. My husband was also a runner. He said the more you do it the easier it gets. Go girl - just make sure you MAKE time for your self to run. We tend to always put others first.

  3. I can totally relate to the time crunch. I am glad that you have support at home. I love the schedule that you posted. That actually seems doable even for a non-runner like me. I know from my days of working out (a long time ago) that there will be pain before the results show. Even my friends that run marathons tell me how sometimes your lungs feel like they are going to burst or your legs cramp up at mile 22, but that you just have to push through it. I am glad you at least walked that day you were sore. Please keep us posted. Is there anywhere you can run other than a treadmill? I was just thinking of variety to keep you motivated.

  4. Your right Tami. The more I attempt to run, the easier it seems. I still can not run that first mile with out stopping~ but I am getting closer and not dreading trying as much.

  5. Susan,
I could run outdoors, but it is a little too icey at the moment. As I become more comfortable with my running, I will venture outdoors. At the moment, I fear I may look a little awkward running.

  6. Gosh....I wish I had room for a treadmill. My husband loves to run on a treadmill. I had thought about getting him 6 monthes at the local gym in town, but was discussing that with that money we could buy a treadmill we could both use. But, of course, we have no room! Frustrating!!! I am so proud of you though. Have you signed up for any running events yet??

  7. Not yet Sara. Maybe after the holidays. I will for sure run in the St. Patrick Day race here in Anaconda and will keep by eyes open for any others.

  8. I like how you stated you felt good after you pushed yourself. Isn't that half the battle? Motivation. Good for your determination and perserverance! I'm in awe.

  9. I really like the schedule you posted - 30 sec. and 60 sec is definitely doable. The problem for me is DOING it. I have dogs that get me outside and walking everyday - but not necessarily jogging. With your schedule it seems much more doable. Thanks
